VVI was founded by Satish Subbaram, an innovative ‘Technopreneur of new and emerging Technologies’ who carries a ‘mixed bag of skills, experience and ideas’, a unique journey of over 35 years cutting across Renewable Energy & EV Industry primarily, blended with IT Enabled Services as well. His early years in business had ingrained the fundamentals of entrepreneurship through hard-core hands on experience as an entrepreneur and innovative technocrat in the Renewable Energy sector gaining expertise in Solar Energy based systems. Leveraging his Business operations expertise and skills, he moved on into the IT Industry supporting Business processes for a leading IT major in independent Software Quality Assurance Services provider in the BFSI vertical.

As an ‘Evangelist’ of Electric Vehicles, e-Mobility & Integrated Home Energy management he has collaborated with Industry experts and Academia to forge critical ecosystem partnerships involving several working models of EV’s and Solar PV systems making them affordable and accelerate adoption. He has lent his expertise to ‘Efficient Battery management’ and ‘Smart Electronics of charge & discharge’ while joining hands with leading EV experts to accelerate transition to a sustainable ‘EV future’.

As an ‘Early Adopter’ he has piloted the re-engineering and conversion of conventional IC Engine based 2 wheelers to ‘Electrify’ them using efficient Electric Motors, Smart charging systems and robust battery packs. Cutting through the clutter of myriad ‘EV kits’ offered in the market he has led the team to successfully re-engineer and provide feasible alternatives to new EV’s through improved efficiency and performance of retrofitted versions.

His foray into Renewable Energy as a pioneer manufacturer of Solar Thermal (ST) & Solar Photovoltaic (SPV) systems involved design, manufacture and commissioning turnkey projects well complemented by business development, strategic marketing, sales and solutioning skills.

He brings to the table in-depth knowledge of the Battery behaviour & performance coupled with Electronic Charge controllers, gained through design and execution of large Solar Photovoltaic & mini-wind power projects for a host of clientele - Industry majors, premier Educational Institutions, International Development / Aid agencies, NGO’s and Govt. entities.

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND

VVI leadership team combines its experience across all facets of EV right from

  • Integration of Electric Motors to drive trains / legacy transmission systems coupled with efficient control electronics
  • Re-engineering of IC Engine based vehicles – Design and re-alignment of vehicle sub-assemblies including customised drive trains & suspension systems using fixtures machined & fabricated using special welding techniques to facilitate the mounting & integration of the EV sub-assemblies completely thus ensuring efficient power transmission and fail-proof connectivity of the controls & dashboard units.
  • In-depth understanding and knowledge of Battery Charging, Storage management with controlled charging & discharging of batteries while ensuring adequate safety features.

The Leadership team leverages its vast Industry experience in the EV & Automotive industry as well as Renewables as pioneer manufacturers to propel growth of new & emerging green shoots of EV, Solar & allied renewable technologies.

THE PAST – Dependence on Fossil Fuels

The 20th century was an era of IC Engines mainly due to accessibility, ease and use of low-cost fossil fuels. However the last decade has seen prices of the fast depleting stock of fossil fuel based derivatives like Petrol & Diesel soaring resulting in an increase in Energy costs, along with the disastrous impact of such transportation on the environment and raised alarms & concerns on climate change. This has now shifted the focus to Electric mobility.

THE SHIFT – Transition to Electric Mobility

The electric vehicle (EV) is not a recent invention. Between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, most Motor Vehicles were electric due to their superior reliability and cleanliness, compared to the vehicles driven by Internal Combustion engines (ICE). However, with the development of ICEs and the reduction of their price, electric cars were forgotten. Now - almost a century later, they have returned in the market due to a significant increase in fossil fuels prices, as well as due to growing environmental concern.

Though it is true that EV technology advancement had some catching up to do in terms of making retrofitted electric vehicles a reality, a lot of testing was on and we are now seeing that EV conversions have become technically sound & commercially viable.
